APT courses - Appropriate Paper-based Technology (http://www.floodmeadows.com/apbt/)
APT uses basic engineering principles for DIY recyling. Parer and cardboard are pasted together and made into surprisingly strong items of furniture, useful household objects and unique artwork. Chairs and sofas have been in daily use for over 19 years.

It is not difficult and items, even large items of furniture can be made in the home.
Toy-making courses
These are generally weekend courses using woodwork and sewing.
